Footnotes
[1] The last two years, I experimented with a sub-ranking of programs in terms of their distinction in “Philosophical Problem-Solving” and “Philosophically Informed History of Ideas.” As various people pointed out to me, it was rather unclear what the relationship was between those rankings and the Specialty Rankings. As a result, this year the Report will simply let the Specialty Rankings speak for themselves.

[3] Thanks for additional helpful comments on the Specialty Rankings, either this year or last, to all of the following (none of whom should be presumed to agree in toto with the results): J.C. Beall (Connecticut), Tad Brennan (Yale), Mark Colyvan (Queensland), Michael Della Rocca (Yale), William Ewald (Penn), Benjamin Hellie (Cornell), Philip Kitcher (Columbia), Peter Klein (Rutgers), Ruth Barcan Marcus (Yale/UC Irvine), Graham Priest (Melbourne), Ted Sider (Rutgers), Ted Warfield (Notre Dame), Eric Watkins (UC San Diego), Dean Zimmerman (Rutgers). I believe all those consulted last year not listed here are now members of the official Advisory Board, listed at the beginning.
